A hidden treasure in the city center

Málaga's history
inside the premises

Inside our shop on Puerta Buenaventura street, a section of Málaga’s medieval wall is preserved. Dating back to the 11th century, it was part of the city’s defensive system and remained hidden for years. Today, you can see it completely free of charge: just walk right in.

What exactly
is preserved

A section of the original Málaga wall, integrated into the interior of the premises. It is not a replica or a decorative element: it is historical stonework that remained inside the building as the city’s urban layout grew over its own defenses.

It remained covered for a long time. When the premises were being renovated, it came to light, and the decision was made to leave it visible instead of covering it up again.

Why there is an 11th-century wall on this street

Medieval Málaga was a walled city. The defensive enclosure surrounded the medina and was linked to the Alcazaba and, further up, the Gibralfaro Castle. Over the centuries the city grew, the walls lost their function, and a large part of them disappeared under new streets and buildings.

That is why today the remains appear in pieces and in unexpected places: in a basement, in a parking lot, in a building’s courtyard. Or, as in this case, inside a shop.

Nuestra tienda en Málaga

From the wall
to the jewel

The fact that the shop is built literally on the city’s history is no coincidence: it is exactly what we do. Our charms with the essence of Málaga collection takes the city’s symbols—the biznaga, the Farola lighthouse, the Cathedral, the espeto, the cenachero—and turns them into small pieces of jewelry.

In January 2026, La Opinión de Málaga featured this section, and in June, Canal Málaga visited it. Both pieces are linked in About Us.
